The unlikely adventures of our hero, Marcus, as he flits between modern and Roman Britain in the thrall of a Celtic goddess, finds himself imprisoned in the Tower of London, and at a loose end in London Zoo. He is chased by his irate wife, Mabel, and the whole sorry tale is told by an unholy trinity; the Dreamer, the Muse, and the Author who keep interrupting the story at the most inopportune moments.
